Ice pack or cold food and drinks reduce swelling and inflammation and also helps in relieving pain as it does on other areas of the body. Pain relieving medicines is a conventional way to relieve the pain after braces tightening and can be taken for 4-5 days till the pain is completely relieved. Switch to soft foods for some days like soups, lentil water, mashed potato and milk rather than having foods like candies, chicken or nay other hard food. A warm rinse might help in healing any cuts, injuries or nay ulcer that you have had due to braces. Massage or gums in a gentle circular motion all over for 15-20 minutes with your finger.
